2015 UNITED STATES SENIOR LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITORS

DAVE ZAJAC

LDA’s Lifetime Achievement award is an annual part of World Long Drive Championship activities. “There are countless long drive veterans who have helped build and sustain the World Long Drive Championship from the grass roots level up. We intend to recognize over time the contributions of individuals who have played an integral role in the success of the World long Drive Championships, the LDA Tour, and long drive in general.”

Long Drive legend Dave Zajac is perplexed. Since he has been told that he is receiving the 2014 Long Drivers of America Lifetime Achievement Award, he has been wondering if he has given as much to the sport as it has given to him.

“I am humbled to be recognized by my peers and Long Drivers of America with such a prestigious award, and I thank my family for supporting me,” says Zajac. “Being involved with the Long Drivers of America and the sport has given me so much and I have met so many world class people who are with LDA or who are competitors. It gives me a warm feeling to think back over my career and remember all of the good times.”

Zajac, who hails from Florida, is both a competitor and an event coordinator. As a competitor he qualified for the Senior division World Finals in 2007 and 2009, and also from 2010-2013. As an event organizer he annually holds several RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship local and regional qualifiers and has also created several grass roots Long Drive events including the Alligator Alley Shootout which has become internationally known.

Zajac also appears in charity events to help raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the American Lung Association, and America Cancer Society.

“It’s been a whirlwind since my son, David Jr., got me involved,” says Zajac. “It was a natural for me because I always generated a lot of power in all of the sports I played, but I probably lacked some finesse. I definitely made the right decision to get involved.”
